Story of Milkha Singh Milkha Singh:- Milkha Singh was born on October 8, 1935 in Lyallpur, Pakistan. He lost his parents in the riots during the Indo-Pak partition. He had come to India by the train that had crossed the border of Pakistan and brought refugees to India. So he had elder siblings to help him in the name of family. Milkha Singh's name came into the limelight when she broke records in 200 and 400 meters at the National Games in Cuttack. In 1958, he won gold medals at the Asian Games in Tokyo, breaking Asian records in the 200 and 400 meters. In the same year i.e. 1958, he also won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games held in Cardiff (UK). Due to his successes, he was awarded the "Padma Shri" by the Government of India in 1958.
